Panzerkreuzer Potemkin

Ich habe die Bücher von Pudowkin und von Eisenstein gelesen. Und es war interessant, was sie über Filmmontage schrieben. Da hab ich gedacht, vielleicht kann ich das auch für die Grafik benutzen in gewisser Umformung. Das, was ich im Film gesehen habe und was ich von Fotos her kannte, waren diese Geschützrohre, die man von der Seite sehen kann. Ich habe sie in einer strengen Perspektive dargestellt. Das habe ich bevorzugt und habe sie dann, so kontrastreich ich konnte, schwarz-weiß gemalt. Dann ergab sich unten ein Raum,
in den rein nach Gefühl diese Typografie gesetzt wurde. (Hans Hillmann)

I’ve read the books of Pudovkin and von Eisenstein. And it was interesting what they wrote about film editing. So I thought, maybe I could use it for my design in a certain transformation. What I saw in the film and what I knew from photos were these gun barrels that you can see from the side. I depicted them in a strict perspective. I preferred that and then painted them in black and white as much as I could. Then there was a space below, in which, purely by feeling, this typography was placed. (Hans Hillmann)
